Zürich Pride – Zurich Pride 2016 means love. Inspired by the success of the #lovewins campaign, we want to show Switzerland that the LGBT movement is all about the love between two people. The relevance of this message is amplified by the national referendums expected to go to the ballots in 2016. Zürich, Switzerland; June 3-12, 2016
Zürich Pride 2016
In Switzerland same-sex couples are still unable to marry, although Switzerland has allowed registered partnerships for same-sex couples since 2007, they have not the same rights as married couples. On February 28th 2016, voters in Switzerland decided that marriage should not be defined as a union between a man and a woman in the constitution. A first step towards marriage equality. Furthermore, another referendum concerning the adoption of step children in same-sex partnerships is set for 2016. In this motion, the voters will decide whether a parent may adopt their partner’s biological children. Once again the question will be raised whether the love of homosexual couples – in this case parental love – is equal to the love of heterosexual couples.
The peaceful march is the political manifestation of Switzerland’s LGBT community & Friends. It will be held in the centre of Zurich. All LGBT-oriented and LGBT-friendly organizations in Switzerland are invited to participate in the march. As always, it will be colorful, diverse and well-attended. Become a part of Switzerland’s biggest Pride celebration.
The two-day festival in the center of Zurich attracts thousands of visitors from Switzerland and the neighboring countries. It includes a rich entertainment program, political speeches, show acts as well as bars, food and information stands all around the festival area.
